Helmut Lechner started LifeHammer by creating an emergency hammer in 1983 that could be used in emergency situations like car wreck. Later in the same year, Helmut founded LifeHammer after getting TÜV approval for the product. In 2002, LifeHammer along with patents and commercial rights was sold to Dutch company Antea and private investor Jan BM Franken. In 2011, Antea sold its shares to the company Écart.

LifeHammer Safety Hammers Series features safety tools that can help in preventing an automotive entrapment after an accident. The assembly features a razor sharp blade and a spiked hammer. In case of entrapment during an accident, one can use the razor sharp blade to the seatbelts easily. The spiked hammer can be used in shattering the side or rear windows. This safety hammer is provided with ABS mounting bracket that helps in holding the tool in place within the vehicle console.
